Micro Maps

Posted: 15th May 2013 by Victor Wyatt in Mapping

I recently started drawing maps on index cards inspired by both Matt Jackson and Dyson‘s mapping styles. Using index cards keeps the maps small and manageable. It also allows me to finish them in a timely manner so I don’t get distracted halfway through. I can also experiment with things I like and don’t like. Right now I am trying to get certain water features how I like them and make doors so they don’t blend so much into the walls.

Soon I will scan a few of them in and post them here. I also think I’ll be adding a Dungeon World style threat to each one for content seeing that DW is my current favorite in the fantasy, dungeon-delve style of role-playing games.

Also, if you haven’t checked it out yet, go over to Google Plus and look up the #micromapsmonday and #fridayfiveminutemap hash tags as well as the Micro Maps community hosted by Stacy Dellorfano. Everyone’s going some amazing map stuff that deserves some attention.
